RLNG Turnkey Solutions

A Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) Station is designed to receive LNG from tankers, store it under cryogenic conditions, convert it into gaseous form through controlled vaporization, and supply the gas through a regulated pressure pipeline network.

The system integrates cryogenic handling, vaporization, pressure regulation, and gas distribution—ensuring continuous, safe, and efficient RLNG supply to downstream users such as industrial plants, power generation units, or city gas distribution networks.

Components of RLNG Turnkey System

Unloading Pump

  • The process begins with the LNG unloading pump, which transfers LNG from the LNG tanker truck to the cryogenic storage tank.
  • The unloading pump is a submerged cryogenic centrifugal pump, capable of handling LNG at approximately –160°C and flow rates typically ranging from 100 to 200 liters per minute (LPM).
  • It operates at low suction pressure to maintain LNG in its liquid phase throughout the transfer process.
  • Safety interlocks, emergency shutdown (ESD) provisions, and quick-connect couplings are included to ensure safe and spill-free unloading operations

2. Storage Tank

Above Ground: tank buried below the surface,for storing liquids like oil or water, non hazardous.


Under Ground: tank buried below the surface, used for the storage of inflammable and hazardous substance

  • The LNG storage tank acts as the primary reservoir for holding LNG before regasification.
  • It is a double-walled, vacuum-insulated cryogenic vessel, designed for low-temperature storage and minimal boil-off losses.
  • The inner vessel (made of stainless steel) contains the LNG, while the outer carbon steel jacket provides structural support and vacuum insulation.
  • Vacuum + Perlite insulation utilizes expanded perlite powder filled in the annular space of a cryogenic vessel under high vacuum, effectively minimizing heat transfer through conduction and convection
  • Vacuum + Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) employs multiple layers of reflective foils or films separated by spacers within a high-vacuum environment to primarily suppress radiative heat transfer, delivering exceptional thermal performance

Key features include:

  • Level, pressure, and temperature transmitters for continuous monitoring.
  • Pressure Relief Valves (PRVs) for overpressure protection
  • Boil-off gas lines connected to a vent or vapor recovery system

All our tanks are designed in accordance with ASME Section VIII and SMPV (U) / PESO regulations.

3. Atmospheric Vaporizer

  • LNG from the storage tank is directed to the atmospheric vaporizer, where it is converted into natural gas (methane) at ambient temperature
  • The vaporizer uses ambient air as the heat source, eliminating the need for external energy input and ensuring low operating costs.
  • As the LNG passes through aluminum finned tubes, it absorbs heat from the surrounding air, changing phase from liquid to gas.
  • Design Considerations:
  • Outlet pressure: typically 10–20 bar(g), depending on downstream requirements.
  • Outlet temperature: maintained above +5°C to prevent condensation in the pipeline
  • Material: aluminum alloy, suitable for cryogenic and atmospheric exposure.
  • Redundant vaporizers are often installed to ensure continuous operation and allow maintenance flexibility.

4. Pressure Regulating Skid

  • After vaporization, the high-pressure natural gas flows to the Pressure Regulating Skid (PRS).
  • The PRS ensures that the RLNG is delivered to the downstream system at a stable and controlled pressure, typically ranging between 1–4 bar(g) (or as required by end users).
  • The skid is equipped with
  • Pressure control valves and slam-shut valves for safety.
  • Pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, and flow meters integrated with a PLC-based control system.
  • Safety relief valves to protect the system from overpressure
  • The PRS ensures smooth, automatic regulation even under fluctuating inlet conditions

5. Secondary Pipeline

  • The secondary pipeline distributes Regasified LNG (RLNG) to various consumers or process units
  • The pipeline is constructed from carbon steel or stainless steel, depending on operating pressure and environmental conditions.
  • It includes:
  • Isolation valves for section control.
  • Pressure and temperature monitoring points.
  • Condensate traps and vent points for maintenance and safety.

Automation and Control

  • The RLNG station operates under a PLC-based automation system that monitors and controls all critical parameters—tank levels, pressures, temperatures, and flow rates.
  • The control system is integrated with SCADA & HMI for remote supervision, alarm management, and data logging.
  • Emergency shutdown (ESD) provisions are installed at key points, ensuring safe and immediate isolation in abnormal conditions.
  • The automation system minimizes manual intervention, enhancing operational reliability and safety.

Automation and Control

  • The entire installation complies with SMPV, PESO, and ASME codes, ensuring safe handling of cryogenic fluids and high-pressure gases.
  • Gas leak detectors (LEL sensors), flame detectors, and temperature alarms are positioned at strategic points.
  • Firefighting systems including hydrants, foam monitors, and portable extinguishers are installed in accordance with NFPA guidelines.
  • Adequate venting systems and earthing arrangements, are provided to prevent overpressure or static discharge.

The RLNG Station provides a reliable, automated, and safe solution for converting LNG into usable natural gas for industrial or commercial applications.
Through a seamless process involving unloading, storage, vaporization, pressure regulation, and distribution, the system ensures:

  • Continuous and stable gas supply,
  • Minimal energy consumption,
  • High operational safety
  • Adequate venting systems and earthing arrangements, are provided to prevent overpressure or static discharge.
  • Compliance with global standards.

  • The system is designed as per ASME B31.3 / B31.8 pipeline standards to ensure safety, integrity, and reliability of supply.
  • Gas from this network can feed industrial furnaces, boilers, power generators, or city gas grids, depending on application.

Oxygen Compatible Cleaning

Stainless steel inner tank, internal pipes, external pipes, and fittings are cleaned through a series of processes like pickling, passivation and degreasing followed by stringent quality checks with a ultraviolet (UV) lamp, which ensures superior clean environment for Oxygen storage.

Testing

Tanks undergo through a series of Non-Destructive Examinations (NDE) including helium leak test to ensure robustness, long vacuum retention, leak proof and maintenance free life.

Vacuum Guarantee

Stringent helium leak test, followed by Vacuuming with latest good quality vacuum pumps provides a long vacuum retention period.
